The incomparable Joyce Nuhill returns to the Ruhrfestspiele to breathe new life into jazz standards and soul classics with her unmistakable dark and velvety voice. Once again, she also invites the audience to discover exciting original compositions. While her music evokes the vintage glamour of long-forgotten times, it also remains effortlessly up-to-date. Nuhill is inspired by soul and jazz singers such as Sarah Vaughan, Erykah Badu, and Sade. Yet her musical influence also originates in the world of rap, inspired by artists like Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah. Together with her band, Joyce Nuhill builds a bridge between these very different worlds, in which she feels equally at home.
