Shakespeare. Begegnungen

The exceptional actress Angela Winkler and the four fantastic musicians of the delian::quartet combine musical elements and lyrical texts to create an intricate and exciting dialogue between literature and music. Last year, they immersed their audience in the works of the Bertolt Brecht with "Brecht im Spiegel". In this year’s "Shakespeare. Encounters", they engage musically with none other than the Bard of Stratford-upon-Avon: William Shakespeare meets Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Dmitri Shostakovich. Two string quartets, Shostakovich’s 8th and Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s 6th, serve as a framework for the evening and create an impressive stage for Shakespeare's dramas and sonnets. As if they had found each other through the centuries, the words merge with the music to form a rich tapestry of meaning.
