After All

by and with Solène Weinachter

German premiere

This extraordinary production celebrates the vulnerability of our existence. Dancer Solène Weinachter combines theater, comedy, and storytelling with dance. Right from the start of "After All", she explores the existential question: What happens at the end? Although death will affect each and every one of us, it is largely excluded from our lives. Since grief is made invisible in public, it seems almost taboo to talk about the experience of loss.

Solène Weinachter re-enacts several funerals of her loved ones – sometimes seriously, sometimes comically, but always with passion. She also imagines her own funeral in an attempt to create a space in which dying and loss are given positive connotations. Her optimistic, self-deprecating and charming manner turns this simulation into a celebration of life.

"After All" is a subtle examination of the rituals of saying goodbye. For the artist, dance is the connection that develops a healing and reconciling power.
