Their names are Atlanta, Samir, Hamza, Hammad, Manon, Youssef, Tarik, Hassan, Bouchra, Ayoub, Zhor, Elias, Achraf, and Nora. They speak Arabic, French, English, Spanish, but above all the borderless languages of acrobatics, music, and images. Fifteen virtuoso acrobats and dancers, the colorful imagery of Hassan Hajjaj, the "Andy Warhol of Marrakech", and the sound of Algeria's top DJ DINO, plus 100 Coke crates, a human trampoline, a motorcycle, and lots of footballs - these are the ingredients of "FIQ!", the new creation of the renowned Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger. This rousing show is the energetic mix of light, colors, music, and life we all need right now.

Since 2018, the company has been casting young talents all over Morocco. Each of them has a different background: hip-hop, breakdance, clowning, acrobatics, street style, soccer, or taekwondo. Director Maroussia Diaz Verbèke combines these diverse disciplines with the personal stories of the performers to create a shimmering composition in which the roots of traditional Moroccan acrobatics are translated into a contemporary circus language. In this production, worlds collide: daredevil stunts and human pyramids, rap and bombastic symphonies, time-honored rituals and social media, pop, kitsch, tricks, and wit. But underneath all the spectacle lies a tender ode to dialogue between supposed opposites, one that builds bridges between yesterday and today.
