Reading with Lina Beckmann and Charly Hübner

The writer, painter and art critic John Berger died in 2017 at the age of 90. His Once in Europa is a love story, possibly the greatest love story that he has ever written. Berger’s instant classic imagines a counter-history of Europe, a tale about the powerless at the margins of society. This deeply empathetic work unfolds a rich tapestry of compassion and affection.

Lina Beckmann is a company member of Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg. In 2011, she won the Alfred Kerr Prize and the “Theater heute” Actress of the Year Award. She received the 3Sat Award and the Ralf Mares Award in 2015, the same year she was nominated for the German Theatre Award “Faust”.

Charly Hübner performed at theatres in Frankfurt, Zürich, Cologne and Hamburg. He also known for his extensive television and film work, including Polizeiruf 110, The Good Neighbour, 3 Days in Quiberon and the Oscar-winning The Lives of Others. He won the Bavarian Television Award and the Golden Camera as Best Actor in 2013, as well as the Grimme Award and the Gertrud Eysoldt Ring in 2015.
