Grasshoppers
Circus Katoen
Two people, boards, ropes, and grass. Transferred from its natural habitat into the spotlight of the stage, a little piece of grass conveys much about nature and the people who literally trample on it in this playful acrobatic show. In "Grasshoppers," this living third player has to endure a lot. It is moved, thrown, shaped, and rolled up by the artists. But the patch of green proves to be resilient. With creativity and humor, Sophie van der Vuurst de Vries and Willem Balduyck develop an imaginative and dynamic circus piece from simple materials. They investigate our dependence on nature, which does not need us humans at all. The company name Circus Katoen is inspired by the pure, natural material cotton, which is soft and at the same time durable. Ecological themes are always present in the content of the duo's work. They specializes in natural, degradable materials and design each piece so that it can go on tour in a small car.
