Brecht im Spiegel

A literary and musical evening with Angela Winkler and the delian::quartett

Angela Winkler is a grande dame of the acting profession. She looks back on a versatile career, having been present at the beginnings of Peter Stein's Schaubühne Berlin and in key moments of the New German Cinema. Most recently, she appeared at last year's Ruhrfestspiele in "Eurotrash," based on Christian Kracht's novel of the same name. Angela Winkler has worked with many major theater directors and remains legendary as "Hamlet," directed by Peter Zadek. In Recklinghausen, she has delighted audiences in previous years with her incomparable singing. Now she returns to the Ruhrfestspiele with a new literary and musical evening. During the event, Angela Winkler will perform and sing texts by Bertolt Brecht, accompanied by the delian::quartett. The various pieces are skillfully combined with Dmitri Shostakovich's fourth string quartet from 1948, as well as with songs by Kurt Weill, Hans Eisler, and Franz Servatius Bruinier. The delian::quartet provides new arrangements for all compositions during this evening. "Brecht in the Mirror" is a dialogue of wit and bitterness, light and darkness, disillusionment and tenderness.
