Pawaˉ araibu – filling the vacuum (Ep. 03 – mines of the glacier)
Virtual reality installation by Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten
Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten create multimedia installations and performances that deal with technologies that shape our world. Since 2020, the duo has been working on their video series “Pawaaraibu - filling the vacuum.” In a prologue and several episodes, this series tells the story of an artificial intelligence which, in the body of a drone, becomes one of the last living beings to travel a posthuman world; a world that has been irreversibly changed by humans. In the virtual reality installation “mines of the glacier,” the third episode of the series, visitors travel in the head of the drone to the gradually disappearing glaciers of the Alps. The prologue and episode 1 will also be shown as a video installation at Ruhrfestspiele.
