Die Philosophiermaschine
Interactive audio installation by Interrobang
Discussing the biggest questions of our time with dead philosophers is now possible at Ruhrfestspiele: "The Philosophizing Machine" is an artificial intelligence that allows audiences to enter into a lively dialogue with Hannah Arendt, Karl Jaspers, or Ernst Bloch, some of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. Freedom, dissidence, otherness, censorship, utopia, hope - these terms were subjects of discussion for post-war philosophers who still struggled to come to terms with their war experiences. The algorithmic sound montage of performance collective Interrobang now enables conversations between the deceased and present-day visitors. Let yourself be surprised by the dead philosophers’ unusually up-to-date reactions to current developments.
