Online performance via Zoom
German premiere
In his new work, the theater maker revives a forgotten business idea and the audience gets to experience an online business pitch of a newly founded brand of Indian cow based products. Located in the web of religion and rationality, violence and economy, historical narratives and future speculations, “Cow is a Cow is a Cow” dives deep into the economy and politics of the holy cow in India. As in his previous works, Abhishek Thapar deftly connects political, religious, and historical narratives with his personal biography. He creates intimate and humane performances that offer unforgettable experiences for his audience and invite to experience the local impact of global politics with all senses. India may be far away, but the threats of ruthless fanaticism are not.
Eat together!
Abhishek Thapar will cook biryani, a traditional Indian rice dish that is often shared communally - e.g. also at demonstrations - at every event. Recently, biryani has therefore been discredited as an "anti-national" dish. The artist invites you to prepare biryani at your home as well and eat it after the presentation to round off the event. You will receive the recipe when you book your tickets.
