In his performance “self-made,” German artist Felix Bürkle asks the question: “What made me who I am today?” For this, Bürkle goes back to his roots, starting his artistic career with juggling street shows when he was just 13 years old. Juggling, object manipulation, dance, and music are woven together into an intimate performance.
Bürkle follows the tradition of the self-made man and one-man shows, but adds a healthy dose of self-deprecation to the mix. “Self-made” is not just a performance during which the audience witnesses the artist’s personal and intimate reflections, it is also an invitation to reflect about oneself.
