Dietmar Bär is known for his work on stage and screen. For more than 20 years he has been portraying inspector Freddy Schenk in German crime series Tatort. For this portrayal, he received the German Television Award in 2000. He also won the Golden Camera for his performance in the TV drama Kehrtwende. Over the years he played various parts at Schauspielhaus Bochum. He received the Bernhard Minetti Award in 2017.
